This technology integrated activity will take students on an adventure to explore the mathematics around them. Students will have to follow the directions of the trail to find the different problems to solve. On this math trail, students will have to solve a measurement problem at each destination. Each problem will have students measure items with nonstandard units.
This activity is a differentiated instruction activity based on Howard Gardner's Multiple Intelligences. This Tic-Tac-Toe Math Task Board has math tasks that meet each different intelligence, and they are all based on order of operations. The students will have to choose three activities in a row, horizontally, vertically, or diagonally, to complete the assignment and get a Bingo!
In this lesson, students will learn how to add and subtract fractions with like denominators.The teacher will begin the lesson by reading The Hershey's Milk Chocolate Fraction Book, and the students will follow along with the book by breaking their Hershey bar into pieces and making fractions. Then, the students will use fraction bars to add and subtract fractions. Finally, the students will create a human fraction as a summative assessment to show what they have learned.
In this lesson, students will learn how to tell time by the hour and half-hour on an analog and digital clock. To begin the lesson, as a pre-assessment, the teacher will read What Time Is It Mr. Crocodile?, and the students will follow along by showing the different times on an analog and digital clock. This lesson also includes different math centers where students will do an interactive notebook page based on the academic vocabulary, participate in a human clock game, work on computers, and make analog clocks out of paper plates.
