In this lesson, students will become chefs and cook up some personal narratives. First, students will learn the recipe for a personal narrative, the ingredients that are needed, and the instructions for making. Then, students will pre write a personal narrative by completing a graphic organizer where they will have to list their characters, setting, problem, and solution. Next, students will complete a chart where they will draw out the beginning, middle, and end of their personal narrative.
In this lesson, students will get the opportunity to explore estimation and measurement by using nonstandard units. During the lesson, the teacher will do an online mini-lesson using the enVision slideshow, and then the students will participate in math centers. At one center, the students will get to estimate and measure the length of a friend. At another center, the students will work with the teacher to complete the enVision math packet for the lesson, and at the last center, students will have a chance to work on computers. Finally, the lesson will end with an exit ticket.
In this lesson, students will get the opportunity to explore the clouds by learning about the four major types: Stratus, Cumulus, Cumulonimbus, and Cirrus. First, the teacher will read aloud The Cloud Book, and then the students will get to meet the four different types of clouds by doing a sorting activity. Next, the students will get to construct a cloud mobile where they will make a model of each type of cloud out of cotton balls. Finally, the students will go outside and observe the clouds.
In this lesson, students will get the opportunity to explore the different types of animal hair and what the different types can do. First, the teacher will lead the students in completing the first two columns of a KWL chart, where the students will share what they already know about animal hair and what they want to find out. Then, the teacher will read aloud What If You Had Animal Hair!?, and then the students will get to complete an animal hair poster. Finally, the teacher will lead the students in completing the last column of the KWL chart, where the students will share what they have learned about animal hair.
